In the village of Drüber in southern Lower Saxony, RAU® is building a RAU® Climatewall on the edge of a newly developed building area in the district of Northeim from spring 2024. The planned areas will mainly be used for residential construction in future, and a day care facility is also planned. The wall, which will be greened on both sides after construction, is primarily intended to protect the lower storeys and outdoor areas of the future residents from traffic noise emissions.
In the “Im Klappenfeld” development plan in Drüber, the specifications for the noise barrier were determined on the basis of an acoustic report. Among other things, it was defined that the wall must run 20 meters parallel to the edge of the L572 road and have a height of four meters above ground level.
Climbing hydrangeas, wild vines and ivy will be planted. Once these have grown in, they ensure that the technical construction of the noise barrier gradually fades into the background and the observer sees only a green vertical surface. In this way, the wall blends in perfectly with the landscape and townscape and is no longer perceived as a nuisance.
