RAU® sees more tasks in a modern noise barrier than just keeping sound out. Climate-friendly, green noise barriers should bring a piece of nature back into cities or, in the case of RAU® photovoltaics, produce renewable energy at the same time. This makes RAU® the only company in Germany to offer this combination. In order to make this commitment visible in the form of a CO2 balance, RAU® has decided to create a product balance for the green noise barrier RAU® Climatewall.
As a partner for active climate protection, KlimAktiv carried out a study to determine the carbon footprint of a RAU® noise barrier. This involved determining the greenhouse gas emissions of the RAU® Climatewall along the product life cycle from the cradle to the finished wall. RAU Geosystem GBK has been producing ecological noise barriers since it was founded over 20 years ago. In addition to greening and minimizing the consumption of resources, the company keeps the impact on nature as low as possible. What’s more, the climate-neutral noise barrier systems can be easily dismantled.
For the RAU® Climatewall, the emissions calculated from the provision of raw materials, production through to the finished wall and the respective transportation are exceeded by the emissions bound by the greening after just a few years. With its climate-neutral noise barriers, RAU® not only makes a positive contribution to the urban climate, but also increases its own climate handprint as well as that of its customers.
