Noise protection in Ehningen
RAU® Climatewall in Ehningen- Noise protection for urban transition zones
In a sensitive area between an expressway and an adjacent residential area, an innovative noise protection system was installed over a length of 120 meters and at heights of between 5 and 7 meters. The project was characterized by the combination of different noise protection technologies – in particular RAU® Climatewall S, RAU® Climatewall and gabion-based elements. This variety of systems was necessary in order to meet the different requirements along the route.

Job details & challenges:
The main challenge was the heterogeneity of the local conditions: limited space, different ground conditions and variable requirements in terms of noise protection, ecology and design. This resulted in the need to specifically coordinate different noise protection systems. The particular challenge was also the strength of the project – the integration of different systems into a uniform solution in terms of design and function.
Project objective:
The aim was to create highly effective and sustainable noise protection for residents and nature. The systems should not only reduce noise, but also take on design and ecological functions. To this end, individual solutions were developed for individual sections which, when combined, create a harmonious overall picture.
Results
- RAU Climatewall S: narrow construction of 13 cm, extensive greening, use in confined spaces
- Gabions with high acoustic mass and natural stone filling in areas with more space available
- Ecologically and visually sophisticated building created
- RAU Climatewall: heat-regulating and greenable surfaces
- Effective noise protection through coordinated interaction of the elements
