Noise protection in Kirchhellen

RAU® Climatewall: Noise protection for the Schultenkamp development area

RAU® is currently building the first section of a sustainable noise barrier along Rentforter Straße in Kirchhellen. The project will protect the “Schultenkamp” development area from traffic noise in future and is part of the development plan that has been legally binding for 16 years. Instead of the originally planned 4.50-metre-high wall, a three-metre-high, greened combination of embankment and wall, a so-called Climatewall, is now being built.

RAU® Managing Director Henning Knief emphasizes the ecological design: “The wall is piled up towards the street and blends harmoniously into the landscape.” The modules, which are currently still conspicuous, will be planted by local gardeners in the spring and will then be transformed into a natural, sustainable structure.
